A specimen without data has little scientific value, and most teachers grade the labels. Every label should include at least:

      • Location: country, state, county, and a nearby town or landmark.
      • Date collected: written clearly, like 12 Oct 2026.
      • Collector: the name of the person who collected it.

A second label underneath can show the identification (order, family, species if known) and who identified it.

Print on heavy acid-free paper, keep labels small (about 3/8 by 3/4 inch), and slide them onto the pin under the insect, all facing the same way. If you bought specimens from me, the data printed on each envelope gives you everything you need for the first label.
